Manmohan Singh is the 17th and current Prime Minister of the Republic of India. He also serves as the Union Minister for Finance, succeeding P. Chidambaram. He was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1982 to 1985 and held the post of the Finance Minister of India from 1991 to 1996 under Narsimha Rao-led government. Singh belongs to the Indian National Congress party and took oath as the Prime Minister of India on May 22, 2004, becoming the first person of Sikh faith to hold the post. An economist by profession, Singh has previously worked at organizations like the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations. During his tenure as the Finance Minister, he was widely credited for initiating economic reforms in India in 1991 which resulted in the end of the infamous Licence Raj system.

Year 2009 will be the year of hurdles and unexpected problems. He has to face the problems near the border. He has to tackle poor economical situation of the country. Neighboring country try to crush economic growth of India. He will be successful in keeping good image for his party and party members for the coming Lok Sabha elections.   After January 29, 2009 till 5, September 2009 there will be lots of violence, bomb explosions, war in bad shape. Manmohan Singh is person who handles all situations very patiently and controls the adverse situation in balanced way. He will be admired for his extra ordinary working as per caliber. After mass destruction in the country, he will be able to give a new look with better economical growth of the country. In coming few years he will be very famous and popular personality of India and world.
